"It will be a place of grace, a place for healing the illnesses and wounds of the soul. Whoever takes refuge with faith in my Heart and the Heart of my Son in this place will be healed and receive the peace that only heaven can give."
Holy Mary's message on Kurešček, February 10th, 1990
The shrine of Our Lady on Kurešček had been forgotten for many years. Numerous testimonies of conversions, healings, and extraordinary graces had been sinking into oblivion. We have revived the stories and brought them to the movie screen for you.
The docudrama The Queen of Peace on Kurešček (Kraljica miru s Kureščka) is a story about a forgotten place and newfound faith; a film narrative that reveals to us a fragment of the human life of Our Lady and her presence in our lives, here and today. In the documentary part, we meet witnesses who, in their authenticity, share their own experiences. The play, however, shows Holy Mary's path; the path of a simple girl who gives birth to the Savior and the path that we rediscover over and over again - to Mary, who is Our Mother.
France Špelič
Kurešček would have continued sinking into oblivion in human memory were it not for vocation that did not leave Franc Špelič be.
An amazing life story of an individual who evolved from a military career after World War II to an ordination to sacred priesthood. And in the middle of this whirlwind stands - in a mighty and special way - a place of pilgrimage.
A film narrative about a man who kept the faith and the faith kept him.

“From now on all generations will call me blessed …”
Lk 1,48-49

The history of Kurešček
Our ancestors were turning to Our Lady on Kurešček for many centuries, and the church is said to have stood there as early as the 15th century. As the church became the destination of an increasing number of pilgrims, it was enlarged in the early 18th century. It became a popular pilgrimage site, where thousands of people made pilgrimages before the Second World War.

A word from the producer and co-director
‘‘Queen of Peace is a project in which we may have gone a step further than in our work so far. In addition to the personal experiences and turning points in life of the portrayed subjects and the re-creation of the famous biblical scenes, we also opened the question of God's plan for the individual, His concreteness in everyday life and our openness to Him.
David Sipoš
A word from the screenwriter and co-director
From the moment I first heard about Kurešček years ago, it holds a special place in my heart. Time and time again, I have experienced that this is a place of divine presence, be it through pilgrimage, all-night adoration, Holy Mass, singing or silence. Making this film was a great honor for me, as I have many times very vividly experienced that it is not just the fruit of our work, but part of something greater, divine.
